Enjoy lunch or regional platters amongst the sway of majestic old gum trees. Coterie Restaurant appeals to all of your senses. Set amongst the shading gums, it is a cooling and relaxing way to spend a lazy few hours over lunch. There is also a children’s playground and wildlife sanctuary to entertain the young ones.
The restaurant’s high roofs allow the natural light to flow through the floor to ceiling windows, and the indoor thatched roof design compliments the surroundings. With its wood stove and lounge to relax in, the restaurant is open, airy and inviting.

As for the meal, it had its ups and downs. The fries were crunchy and fresh, but the aioli was a tad too lemony.
The Woodstock Regional Platter’s we shared between two, looked fresh and delicious, but received a mixed response around the table. The main comment being, that there was not enough seasoning. The highlights of the platter were the meats – Aldinga Turkey and Ellis’ Red Gum Smoked Ham, both tasty with the Red Gum flavoursome and prominent.
Though none of our party picked it was tomato, the house made tomato relish was a delight of mixed spices and flavours. The marinated mushrooms were large and meaty, and Brian’s Marinated Olives were a tasty mix of both green and kalamata. The Strout Farm Smoked Paprika Almonds, crunchy and moreish, but the table were divided on the Turkey and Muscat Pate, though I must mention it was smooth and every mouthful melted like butter.
The Hindmarsh Valley Chevre was creamy, and made a delicious accompaniment to the pâté. Unfortunately, the Ellis Chorizo and Potato Frittata was bland and lacked flavour, and the Sweet corn and Saffron Arancini balls were gluggy. Both of which were features of the tasting plate, but were a letdown. A small amount of sea salt would have aided the flavour of the vine-ripened cherry tomatoes, and though there were only two slices of Ciabatta, there were generous servings of Pita bread. The watermelon was also a lovely fresh addition.
Frozen Chocolate Mousse for dessert, layers of dark, white and milk chocolate, was flavoursome, but a little icy. The accompanying chocolate truffles, appeared small, but were velvety smooth and deadly delicious.

After our meal, we drank the rest of our wine in the gardens, under the shade of the beautiful gum trees. With an array of tables and chairs to choose from: watching over the playground, amongst the trees, or in front of the wildlife sanctuary viewing the kangaroos lazing about, visitors are spoiled for choice to find the perfect place to unwind. |
The Woodstock Regional Platter had its hits and misses, but the tranquil surroundings assured for a wonderfully lazy long lunch. I could only sum up our visit to Woodstock Estate as the epitome of a relaxing and pleasurable afternoon.
